How did you meet Caffè Espero?
I’ve known Joe Peruzzetto for at least 30 years. I met him while working at my uncle’s restaurant in Germany. Back then, his father’s company was called Ivan Caffè, but evolving it became Caffè Espero.
How long ago and why did you choose Caffè Espero?
I’ve been a client since 2000, the year in which I started my business in Germany. At the time, also because we were friends, I entrusted him, but I have to admit that for more or less 3 years I also tried out different suppliers because I was curious about what the market had to offer. During that period, I changed 4 suppliers but I always ended up being disappointed. More often than not my clients’ judgement was negative, sometimes complaining about a very sour taste, sometimes it was too tart or not aromatic enough. I then recontacted Joe, who had in the meantime changed the product’s name. Moving from Ivan Caffè to Caffè Espero. I was really impressed by the evolution and the name was only a minor part. The careful research of the raw material, the attention to detail, the consultation and training and the deep knowledge of coffee were rewarding choices. That was when I decided to go back to him. I’ve never looked back or elsewhere.
What do your clients say about Caffè Espero?
Very simple: since I’ve been back with Joe, my clients often ask where I buy my coffee. They are so enthusiastic that they ask to buy large quantities.
What is Caffè Espero’s added value?
It surely is a high-end product, but that is not all. The business mirrors the values of the people who work there and I share the same philosophy. The values that set Joe apart are his professionalism, reliability and availability and his great problem solving skills. I remember a time when I had to open for the season but on Sunday the coffee machine wasn’t working. Joe came to the rescue even if it wasn’t a working day to help me solve the problem. He literally saved me!
Would you recommend Caffè Espero?
I must admit I’m not a huge coffee lover, but over the years I’ve developed a deeper knowledge that allows me to understand if a product is good and worth its price. I usually drink decaf, and finding a good one is very difficult. They just put the cup on the saucer and after a few seconds the cream is gone. Removing caffeine isn’t a banal process, it requires expertise and the necessary amount of time and with decaf being a not so popular choice that has a lower production, not much attention is paid to its processing. Joe’s decaf is perfect, just as all the others and this for me is the touchstone that measures his professionalism. I can say without the shadow of a doubt that Espero coffee is a high quality product, as confirmed by my customers. So I definitely recommend it as I have already done with many trusted people, knowing that I wouldn’t have had any problems putting myself out there with this recommendation.
